Why was Paris in a state of alarm?
The king had commanded troops to move into the city. Rumours spread that he would order them to open fire at the citizens.
How many ppl formed the people’s militia and where, against the kings troops?
7000 men and women gathered at the town hall.
What did the ppls militia do?
They broke into gov. Buildings in search or arms. Then several hundred ppl moved east and stormed the fortress prison, the Bastille, to find hoarded ammunition.
What happened at the armed fight in the fortress prison the Bastille?
The commander of the Bastille was killed and the 7 prisoners were released.
Why was the Bastille hates by all?
It represented the despotic power of the king

The french gov. spend it’s budget on paying back the debt, so to meet regular expenses such as cost of maintaining the army, court, government offices and universities etc. it had to increase tax
