A

challenged traditional codes of behaviour related to sexuality and interpersonal relationships. there was increased acceptance of sex outside traditional heterosexual relationships and social norms became more free and accepting; influenced work at Ballet Rambert as increased acceptance within society could have broadened the subject matter/challenged audiences perspectives on societal issues.

social context

A

changes in transport and technology: more accessibility for American choreographers in modern dance in Britain. e.g. Alston had the opportunity to work with Cunningham in the US which developed his knowledge of Cunningham technique. this influenced his choreographic style.the increase in transport would have also increased the ability to tour as a company which wouldve been more successful than the previous tours.
