What are the 5 new ideas of enlightenment? & what are they all?
Reason: “rational thinking is the only basis of true knowledge”
Individualism: “every person is bored with the same basic right to freedom”
Republicanism: “government should be run by and for the people”
Humanism: “people have the potential to make the world the best world possible”
Secularism: “the church should have no role in running of government”
When was and What the agricultural revolution?
A change in farming methods, during the 1700s
What is the old farming system?
The open field system, where farmers had strips of land across three fields. There was a ‘common’ area that was used to feed livestock, gather wood & supplement food.
What is the new farming system?
The closed field system, where farmers had all their land in one place. But there was no common area
What is a labourer?
A person who worked on other peoples land
What is a squatter?
Poor people who used farmers waste land to build dwellings
What is Aristocracy?
A form of government that places in power in the hand of a small, privileged ruling class.
What is a village common?
A large piece of land that local people with ‘common rights’ could use.
What is a voluntary move?
Where people chose to move
What is a involuntary move?
Where people are focused to move
What is enlightenment?
New ideas that changed the world from the way it had been for a very long time.
