but later found this was falsely reported and it was closer to 30-45%
Perry (2013) on standard OTA
Suggests that over 600 participants were not debriefed
What does Haslam et al. (2014) say about the standard OTA?
Suggests that several conditions were not reported
when the participants were known to each other disobedience was 85%
How does Milgram (1964) respond to critics?

What are the 3 main criticisms of the standard OTA view?
- sceptical participants
- non-standard procedures
- unethical researcher behaviour
What does Perry (2013) say about sceptical participants?
they examined unpublished analysis that suggests that those who did not think the experiment was real were more likely to go to full shocks
What does Brannigan (2013) say about sceptical participants?
that believers were 2.5x more likely to be defiant
What does Russel (2009) say about improvisation?
They reported that the experimenters divergence from the 4 standard prods
- this means results show coercion, not Obedience
Burger et al (2011)
in a partial replication no one went past the 4th prod
How did Kassin et al (2017) define obedience
“behaviour change produced by the commands of authority”
