Q

Lambert simnell and the rebellion of the earl of Lincoln

A

Yorkists chose lambert simnell to be their figurehead who was passed off as the earl of Warwick. The real earl of Warwick was in prison. It was put together by john de la pole, earl of Lincoln who was a Yorkist claimant himself. Henry exhibited the real earl of Warwick and the earl of Lincoln fled to Margaret of burgundy in the Netherlands. There he paid a mercenary force to invade England. Henry reinstated the untrustworthy earl of Northumberland who had supported Richard III. The two armies met in stoke, the earl of Lincoln forces were crushed as they were not able to muster enough support in the north. This is seen as the end of the wars of the roses
