  • reduced military (100 000 men limit, no airforce)
  • ‘war guilt’ - take blame for starting war
  • reparations/fines

What did the ‘Big Three’ countries want?

A

FRANCE (worst hit)
-more land (Alsace Lorraine)
-money
-greatly weaken Germany, so Germany could never invade them again
BRITAIN
-money
-Lloyd had to maintain public profile - wanted to be soft on Germany but couldn’t
-worried about rise of communism in Europe
-supported reduction of navy (Britain = large navy)
-justice NOT revenge
-compromised between Clemenceau and Wilson
