Stages of HIV infection
A
Stage 1 = primary infection, with high but falling viral load and CD4+ T cells.
Stage 2 = chronic infection, falling CD4+ T cells, constant viral load
Stage 3 = Big increase in viral load, drop of CD4+ T cells eventually to nothing.

Point of AIDS declared
A
T cell count is less than 200 cells per microL of blood. (Which generally takes 8-10 years from first infection).
