Hoisting Flashcards

1
Q

What is the procedure for an indirect deployment of the pump?

A
  1. Weak link end connected to weight bag.
  2. Lower weight bag and trail line to vessel. once vessel crew has weight bag, clear pilot back and left.
  3. Once trail line is paid all the way out, connect non weak link end to D-rings on the long straps of the bridle.
  4. FM reports “ready to deploy the pump”.
  5. Pilot descends to a low hover, no greater than 25 ft and says “deploy the pump”.
  6. FM deploys pump by pushing on the bottom and clears pilot back and left.
  7. Once pilot says “cease commands”, FM reports “Hoist complete”.

48
Q

What is procedure for the ERD?

A
  1. Clip ICS cord to D-ring above SAR closet. Move line bag in front of swimmer seat. Place floating drum handle on FM seat. Ensure winch handle is not installed on drum. Position the ERD base plate over the appropriate cargo hold down rings and engage with pins.
  2. Grab ERD line and connect carabiner to hoist arm eyebolt. Ensure tab is UP. Gold is forward, black is back. Ensure top and bottom carabiners are locked.
  3. Place ERD line under base plate guide roller and pull enough slack in line to complete hoist. 15-20 more than hoisting altitude.
  4. Once slack is pulled, engage pulley stop on carabiner. Ensure red tab is DOWN.
  5. Connect weight bag and sling to ERD line hook.
  6. Once setup is complete, FM reports, “rescue checklist complete. Ready for ERD line delivery, stop engaged.”
  7. Pilot reports, “Begin the hoist”.
  8. FM delivers ERD line to swimmer using standard rescue swimmer procedures.
  9. When rescue swimmer is ready for pickup, FM will conn Pilot down to the lowest safe altitude while pulling in excess line slack through the self-arresting pulley.
  10. Once all the slack is pulled, FM will conn the Pilot UP far enough to clear wave action and to ensure pulley is holding the swimmer.
  11. Once FM sees pulley is holding swimmer, FM will wrap the ERD line clockwise around the winch drum three times, then around the small chrome roller and onto the the self-tailing groove.
  12. Once winch drum is set, FM will connect winch handle to the top of the drum to execute the recovery by turning the handle.
  13. Once swimmer is near cabin door, FM shall don the gunners belt around rescue swimmer and pull rescue swimmer into cabin.
  14. Once rescue swimmer is in cabin with gunners belt on, FM will disengage pulley stop by pulling on the line opposite the rescue swimmer to loosen tension and push lock to unlock the pulley stop.
  15. FM then reports, “swimmer is safely in the cabin on gunners belt and stop is disengaged.” FM disconnects hook from swimmer and cleans up ERD.
