Nuremberg Laws:
The Nuremberg Laws were a set of antisemitic and racist laws enacted in Nazi Germany in September 1935, marking a significant step in the persecution of Jews. They were introduced at the annual Nazi Party rally in Nuremberg, hence their name, and consisted of two main pieces of legislation
Kristallnacht:
Kristallnacht, also known as the “Night of Broken Glass,” was a pogrom against Jews carried out by Nazi paramilitary forces and civilians throughout Nazi Germany on November 9-10, 1938.
St. Louis affair:
The “St. Louis affair” refers to the voyage of the SS St. Louis in 1939, a German luxury liner carrying over 900 Jewish refugees from Hamburg to Havana, Cuba. The passengers, mostly fleeing Nazi persecution, held valid landing permits for Cuba, but the Cuban government refused to honor them upon arrival. The US also denied the refugees entry, and the ship was forced to return to Europe. While some were eventually accepted in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and the United Kingdom, many would eventually face persecution during the Holocaust.
Final Solution:
The “Final Solution” (German: Endlösung der Judenfrage) was the Nazi regime’s plan for the systematic genocide of European Jews during World War II.
