dickens represents scrooge as a man who struggles to see his past after being redeemed. i know this because in the text it states’wept to see his poor forgotten self’ the verb wept demonstrates how he is regretful and wants to change forever

dickens demonstrates how scrooge wants to change and make the world a better place through the quote ‘leave me! Take me back. Haunt me no longer!’ the imperative verbs in this sentence show how desperate scrooge is to make a change as he says this after seeing what will happen if he deosn’t change his ways.

the lists used by dickens is to emphasise how horrid and sick the children are, and the children are symbolic of the bad of mankind

dickens uses the noun phantom to scare the reader and give them a feeling of fear. the adjective draped demonstrates that the phantom hides its face and body to scare people as a sense of mystery is created
