Prolactin
Released and produced in the anterior pituitary.
Target organ are the mammary glands.
Produces milk and works with oxytocin.
Antidiuretic Hormone
Produced in the hypothalamus.
Released by the posterior pituitary.
Manages water and salt content in the body.
Target organs are the kidneys, sweat glands, and blood vessels.
Oxytocin
Produced in the hypothalamus.
Released by the posterior pituitary.
Ejects milk and prepares for childbirth.
Target organs are the uterus and mammary glands.
Catecholamine
A.K.A. Adrenaline
Produced in the medulla.
Released by the hypothalamus.
Target organs are the liver, heart, muscles, and lungs.
Stimulates nervous system in the fight or flight response.
Calcitriol
Produced and released by the thyroid.
Target organ is the blood, kidneys, and bone.
It lowers Ca in blood and stimulates osteoblasts.
Calcitonin
Produced by the kidneys.
Released by the parathyroid.
Target organ is the GI tract.
It regulates Ca levels in the blood and stimulates calcitriol is it is too high.
Human Growth Hormone
Produced and released by the anterior pituitary.
Target organ is the liver.
It functions in protein synthesis and growth.
