What is the endocrine system
The endocrine system is composed of glands that secret chemicals called hormone directly into the blood stream. The blood carries the hormone to a target organ where it produces an effect
What is a hormone
Hormones provide chemical coordination and control for the body and are produced by endocrine glands
What is insulin
A hormone that that gives a rapid response which controls your blood glucose
What is adrenaline
Adrenaline is a rapid response hormone that prepares your body for fight or flight
What is a pituitary gland
Acts as a master gland, it secretes a variety of different hormones inti the blood in response to changes in body conditions.
What is ADH
Affects the amount of urine produced by the kidney
What are ovaries
A female reproductive organ where eggs are produced.
What is oestrogen
Female sex hormone
What is follicle stimulation hormone?
Stimulates the ovaries to make the female sex hormone oestrogen
