Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin
released once implantation of blastocyst has occured, promotes blood flow to pancreas, produced by the placenta during pregnancy
Prostoglandins
released by the wall of the uterus to start labour, makes the uterus more sensitive to other hormones
Oxytocin
posterior pituitary gland, coordinates the contraction of smooth muscle of the uterus and relaxes the cervix for birth
Relaxin
relaxes the cervix, produced by the ovaries and placenta
Progesterone
prepares the endometrium for a fertilised egg to grow, levels decrease druing labour to cause stronger contractions, secreted by ovaries
Oestrogen
Stimulates the lining of the womb to build up in preparation for a pregnancy, regulates menstrual cycle
Luteinizing Hormone
secreted by the pituitary gland to promote ovulation
Follical Stimulating Hormone
augments the secretion of estrogen and growth of eggs in the ovaries, secreted by anterior pituitary gland
Prolactin
stimulates milk production, secreted from the lactotrophs
