23
Q

Rowframe fully involved with fire in exposures first line

A

The first arriving engine should stretch a 3 1/2’ supply line for a TL and a line for entering the building
The first line is stretched into the fire building through the front door

24
Q

Rowframe fully involved with fire in exposures second line

A

The second line, if not needed to back up the first line, is stretched to the top floor of the most severe exposure

25
Q

Rowframe fully involved with fire in exposures third line

A

If the second line is backing up the first line, the third line is stretched to the top floor of the most severe exposure. If the second line is stretched to the most severe exposure, the third line is stretched to the top floor of the opposite exposure.

26
Q

Rowframe fully involved with fire in exposures fourth line

A

Stretched as ordered by the Incident Commander

27
Q

Vacant Rowframe in a row of occupied frames first line

A

The first arriving engine should stretch a 3 1/2’ supply line for a TL and a line for entering the most severe exposure
The first line is stretched to the most severe exposure

28
Q

Vacant Rowframe in a row of occupied frames second line

A

If the second line is not needed to back up the first line it should be stretched to the fire building or to the opposite exposure

29
Q

Vacant Rowframe in a row of occupied frames third line

A

The third line is stretched to the fire building or the opposite exposure depending on where the 2nd line was stretched

30
Q

Vacant Rowframe in a row of occupied frames fourth line

A

Stretched as ordered by the Incident Commander

31
Q

Vacant Rowframes in a row first line

A

The first arriving engine should stretch a 3 1/2’ supply line for a TL and a line for use on the exterior of the building
If necessary, the first engine can position the apparatus to use the multiversal. Consider in-line pumping in this situation.
The first line should initially be operated from the exterior until a TL, multiversal or heavy caliber stream can be put into operation. The line is then stretched into the most severe exposure.

32
Q

Vacant Rowframes in a row second line

A

If the second line is not needed to back up the first line it should be stretched into the most severe exposure or through an exposure to the rear yard of a fire building.

33
Q

Vacant Rowframes in a row additional lines

A

Stretched as ordered by the Incident Commander.

34
Q

HRFP multiple dwelling 1st due Engine

A

The ECC shall connect a 3 1/2’ line to the standpipe Siamese and charge the system if any evidence of fire is present
The officer and remaining firefighters take the elevator in Fireman service, if available, to at least two floors below the reported fire floor
Examine this floor for the following:
Scissor stairs correctly labeled; hallway layout and location of fire apartment
Best stairway from which to attack the fire and the number of lengths form the attack stairway to the fire apartment
The number of apartment doors and all turns required for the stretch to make it from the attack stairway to the fire apartment
Communicate with the truck officer to select the attack stairway and notify the 2nd Engine and IC of its designation
Charging the line:
If the ladder company has control of the fire apartment door; the line can be advanced to that location and charged
When the apartment door has been left open, the public hallway is now considered part of the fire area, the line should be charged before exiting the attack stairway.
If it is determined that the smoke and heat condition in the public hallway is due to a wind impacted fire the line should be stretched and charged in the attack stairwell. Follow procedures outlined in Wind Impacted Fires.
Engine companies shall not enter an IDLH without a charged line.
The Control firefighter of the 1st to arrive Engine will complete the connection to the standpipe outlet, charge the line when ordered, provide proper water pressure, and remain at the standpipe outlet to provide orderly and accurate communications and continuity.

35
Q

HRFP multiple dwelling 2nd due engine

A

Upon arrival ensure the Siamese is supplied and provide assistance where necessary
Obtain post radio from the 1st arriving BC and bring it to the standpipe outlet where the 1st line is being connected. Establish a communication link on the command channel between the fire sector and the IC if necessary
Take elevator in Fireman service, if available, to at least two floors below the reported fire floor.
Examine this floor for the following:
Hallway layout and location of reported fire apartment
Length of stretch from attack stairs to fire apartment
The number of apartment doors and all turns required for the stretch to make it from the attack stairs to the fire apartment
Has the line been charged or will it be charged before leaving the stairway?
Support the 1st engine company in the following:
Assist in the stretch
Ensure sufficient lengths of hose available for advance into the fire apartment
Facilitate smooth advance onto the fire floor and into the fire apartment
Ensure proper water pressure
The 2nd engine officer must advise the IC when their members are assisting the first engine advance into the IDLH (for relief purposes) or when and where additional assistance is required on the first line.

36
Q

HRFP multiple dwelling 3rd Engine

A

Stretch the 2nd line when required. If a second line is not required notify the IC
The second line may be used to:
Back up the first line
Advance with the first line
Operate the high rise nozzle
Operate into a breach in the adjoining apartment wall while the first line is protecting the public hall
Go to the floor above due to auto exposure via windows or A/C sleeves
Operate on the floor above due to extension via utility voids or steam pipe risers

37
Q

HRFP multiple dwelling 4th due Engine

A

Support and assist the third engine company’s operation.

38
Q

HRFP multiple dwelling 5th Due Engine

A

Responsible for placing the High Rise Nozzle into operation if this alternate strategy is needed and authorized by the IC

39
Q

HRFP multiple dwelling CFRD engine

A

Report to the IC and standby with the FAST unit.

40
Q

LRFP multiple dwelling general line placement duties

A

Proper placement of the first hoseline requires a coordinated size-up and communication between the first engine and truck officer to determine the attack stairway
Fires in LRFPMDs may be extinguished using 1 3/4” or 2 1/2” hose, hand stretched from a pumper depending on the hallway length
If the hallway in these structures are small, every apartment door that is within 50’ of every stairway on that floor, 1 3/4” hose can be stretched from the pumper when compatible with conditions.
If a LRFP multiple dwelling has long hallways, that is, any away door is more than 50’ from any stairway on that floor, then the additional GPM from 2 1/2” hose may be needed and 2 1/2” hose should be stretched from the pumper.

41
Q

LRFP multiple dwelling First line

A

After size-up the first hose line should be stretched to the fire apartment via the attack stairway

42
Q

LRFP multiple dwelling 2nd due

A

The second line may be used for:
Back up the first line
Advance with the first line
Go to the floor above due to auto exposure via window or A/C sleeves
Operate on the floors above due to the extension via utility voids or steam pipe risers

43
Q

LRFP multiple dwelling additional lines

A

Additional lines shall be stretched as ordered by the IC
At fires requiring three lines, when the attack stairs already have two lines on them, the line can be hoisted via stair shaft windows with a utility rope
