A

Hotspots are small areas away from plate margins with an unusually high heat flow linked to volcanic activity

A

At a hotspot, a plume of magma rises from the asthenosphere. The magma pushes through the crust, forming volcanoes at the surface

A

Eruptions are ussually less violent but produce large quantities of lava. This makes them less hazardous but can cause damage and affect peoples live such as the eruption on Hawaiis Big Island in 2018
