The structure of a story: chronological, nonlinear, flashbacks
The unfolding of events, especially: climaxes and resolutions, often reveals deeper messages.
Characterization
The process by which an author develops (desarollo) and portrays (retrata) characters.
Language and Style:
The choice of words, sentence structure, tone, and use of literary devices like:
metaphors, similes, and symbolism.
Setting:
The time and place in which a story is set.
Point of View
The perspective from which a story is told: first-person, third-person omniscient.
Symbols and Imagery
Objects, characters, or events that represent larger ideas or concepts; vivid (vivida) descriptions that appeal to the senses.
Tone and Mood
The author’s attitude toward the subject (tone) and the emotional atmosphere of the story (mood).
Dialogue
The spoken exchanges between characters.
Irony and Satire:
The use of irony involves saying one thing and meaning another, often the opposite. Satire uses humor, irony, or exaggeration to criticize or expose flaws.
Conflict
The struggle between opposing forces, which can be internal or external.
