  • Hypothermia occurs when the body temperature drops significantly.
  • Because weather in the Alps changes rapidly he could have froze.
  • It is easy to become disoriented in the Alps.
  • Ötzi’s muscle tissue was badly decompsed which occurs when in cold water.
  • When having Hypothermia sometimes you get a warm sensation, and Ötzi had no clothes when they found him. Did he take them off?

  • Ötzi had pollen in his stomach, which was found in the spring on trees where shephards went.
  • A one-inch arrowhead made from flint was in his left shoulder. The arrowhead tore through the nerves and the blood vessels shattering his shoulder balde and paralyzing his arm.

  • Ötzi a valuable item with him his axe. Was it placed there as a gift or to appease the Gods during the ritual killing?

  • Ötzi’s body was found at a summit with a beautiful landscape.Landscape always had a part in ritual sacrifices.

  • There was a intense border dispute between the people and a battle could have solved it.

  • On August 24, 79 AD Mount Vesuvius erupted.
  • Scientists estimate that 1.5 million tons of ash and rock shot out of the volcano every second.
  • The ash cloud likely towered approx. 30 km high above the mountain.
  • The city was buried under 6 meters of ash and debris.
  • Some people managed to escape, but most didn’t. It is estimated that 16,000 people died.
