What is the Ovary
The origin that stores eggs and produces estrogen and progesterone
What is the other name for the ova ducts and what is there perpose
Fallopian tubes
Cary egg towards uterus
What is the purpose of the labia majora and minora
Prevent against infection
What is the purpose of the Cervix
Maintain pregnancy
Vaginal canal
Sex organ
What is the purpose of the Uterus
Houses pregnancy
Where dose fertilization occur
Ova duct
Where dose implantation occur
Uterous
What is a corpus luteum and how long dose it last
The corpus luteum is the scar tissue around where a egg is released in the ovary’s and lasts about 14 days when not pregnant
What is the endometrium
The uterine lining
What is the first 13 days of the ovarian cycle called
Follicular phase- the ovulation follicle that will release an egg during ovulation is prepared
What is day 14 of ovarian cycle
Ovulation- an egg is released and if fertilizer implants itself into the endometrium
What is day 15-28 of the ovarian cycle called
Luteal phase- if not pregnant the corpus lutetium slowly bildes up ace tissue while secreting progesterone and estrogen
What happened day 1-5 during uterine cycle
Menstruation- flow
What is day 6-13 of uterine cycle
proliferive phase- more estrogen to increase size of endometrial lining
What is day 15-28 of the uterine cycle
Secretary phase- progesterone and estrogen are secreted
GnRH FSH and LH is inhibited
What dose progesterone do in the female body
1) maintenance of endometriosis
2) firms the cervix
3) negative feedback FSH
4) Prevents uterine contractions
What dose estrogen do in the female body
1) develops and maintains secondary sex characteristics
2) release of follicle
What are brian hormones doing during menstruation
GnRH and FSH increase
LH is inhibited
What happens to Brian hormones during proliferative phase of the uterine cycle
Increases GnRH
Inhibits FSH LH
What cells make up follicles
Oocyte(n2 witch will become egg) and granulosa cells ( support
What are the brain hormones doing during ovulation
Peak of GnRH LH FSH
What happens to brain hormones during the secretory phase assuming no pregnancy
Inhibits GnRH FSH LH
What’s happening to a follicle during the follicular phase
Maturing follicle produces estrogen
