-A holy city is a city that is valuable to the faith of a certain religion -An example of this is Jerusalem - It is where Muslims believe prophet Mohammad ascended to heaven; where Jews believe King Solomon built the wailing wall and where Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son; and where Christians believe Jesus was crucified and resurrected

A small, populated city along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea -It has been under Israeli occupation since 1967 -This area has been the site of lots of conflicts between the Iraelis and Palestinians

A region in the middle east, bordered by Israel and Jordan -2.8 million palestinians live there -Has been occupied by Israel since 1967 -Has been having numerous conflicts between Israel and Palestine leaders, with issues like settlement and border seciruty

-22-year-old Mahsa Amini was arrested by Iran's morality police for "improperly" wearing her hijab and was severely beaten and died three days later in police custody -She is now a global symbol for freedom

A theocracy is a government where the state's legal system is based off of religious law

Morality Police
-Iran has had various forms of "morality police" since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, but the Gasht-e Ershad are currently the main agency tasked enforcing Iran's Islamic code of conduct in public -Their main focus is on making sure observance of hijab, mandatory rules requiring women to cover their hair and bodies and discouraging cosmetics.

-He is the most powerful figure in Iran and has been the country's supreme leader since 1989 -He is head of state and commander-in-chief and also has authority over the national police and the morality police, whose officers arrested Mahsa Amini -He also controls the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps AKA the "IRGC", which is in charge of internal security, and its volunteer wing, the Basij Resistance Force

-Tehran is the capital city of Iran and is located in north-central Iran at the foot of the Elburz mountain range -Tehrān has grown from a small city to a major metropolis, situated in an urban region of 14 million people -Tehrān is Iran’s largest city and one of the most populous cities of the world
