Humidity Flashcards

1
Q

What is a super cooled water droplet
What temps are they usually found

A

Liquid water droplets below 0°C
Found in clouds with temp between 0°C and -15°C

2
Q

What is dew point
What happens to the water below the dew point

A

Temp air would have to be cooled to, to become saturated
Below dew point, water condensed out of air and onto surfaces

Q

What is relative humidity
What happens to RH when air is cooled/heated
How do you calculate RH

A

Ratio of actual water vapour in air that it would hold if it were saturated
Cooled : RH increases; if cooled long enough RH reaches 100%
Heated : RH decreases
RH=(Absolute Humidity x 100)/Saturation Content

Q

What relation does RH have to Temp
Is RH at max/min at sunrise
Is RH at max/min at 1400-1500

A

RH is inversely proportional to temp
Sunrise = Max RH
1400-1500 = Min RH
