Hydrogeology Flashcards
(13 cards)
What does hydrogeology have to do with?
It has to with the water cycle.
What is Hydrogeology?
Hydrogeology is the study of water and its movement through the
ground.
What it ground?
Ground it layers of rock and soil the soil is on top of the rock.
What ground-water?
Ground water is water that flows through cracks and fractures of the ground.
What percent does the ocean take of all the water on earth?
The ocean water takes up about 97.2% of water on earth.
What some problems with ground water?
Ground-water is usually contaminated, it can mix with other liquids or metals.
Whats evaporation?
The process of liquid changing to a gas.
What is Transpiration?
The process of water going though plants to the atmosphere.
What is Condensation?
Condensation the process of gas changing to a liquid.
What is Sublimation?
Sublimation is when a solid changes directly to a gas.
What is Precipitation?
Precipitation is when any form of water falls from the sky.
What is Percolation?
Percolation is movement of water and filtering of water through porous matrial such as rock or soil.
What it Aquifer?
It’s a term used for groundwater or recharged areas. Mainly its a large area of groundwater.
