What is the infundibulum?
The infundibulum, or pituitary stalk connects the pituitary gland to the hypothalamus.
What are mammillary bodies?
The mammillary bodied are involved in sense of smell and are pea like.
What is the function of the pituitary gland?
The pituitary gland controls many other glands, and is known as the “master gland.”
What is the Tuber Cinereum?
The TC surrounds the infundibulum.
What is the function of the Suprachiasmatic Nucleus?
The function of the Suprachiasmatic Nucleus is to regulate the sleep-wake cycle.
What is the function of the Paraventricular Nucleus?
The Paraventricular nucleus produces oxytocin to contract uterine walls and produces milk.
What is the Corpus Callosum?
The Corpus Callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects two brain hemispheres.
What is the function of the Supraoptic Nucleus?
The function of the Supraoptic Nucleus is to produce the hormone, vasopressin in order to increase the reabsorption of water in the kidneys.
What is the function of the Dorsomedial and Ventromedial Nuclei?
The function of the Dorsomedial and Ventromedial nucleus is to regulate hunger and thirst.
