- What are the PREFERENCES?
Preferences are grouped into four tabs:
a. COLORS: Day or Night them
b. GESTURES: Toggle this to disable swipe gestures used to bring in the Library and Preview panes
c. TOOLBAR: Sets the visibility of the toolbar
d. MEDIUM: Add your Medium.com account to iA Writer
- What are the preferences in LIBRARY?
a. SORT BY: Choose to sort documents in the library by Modification Date, Name, or Kind
b. VIEW OPTIONS: Toggle these options to keep folders at the top of the library list or to show filename extensions in the library.
c. LOCATIONS: Click the +/- buttons to add or remove folders to act as locations in the library.
- What are the PREFERENCES in EDITOR?
a. TEXT SIZE: choose between small, medium, or large text
b. SPELLING AND GRAMMAR: Decide how iA Writer checks your spelling and grammar, if at all.
c. SMART SUBSTITUTIONS:
1. Copy/Paste: automatically removes word bordering whitespace
2. Quotes: replaces straight quotes with curly quotes
3. Dashes: Two hyphens in a row are converted to emdash
4. Text Replacement: Toggles replacements from System Preferences ->Text
d. INDENT TEXT USING: Choose whether the tab key inserts for spaces or a tab character.
e. LIMIT LINE LENGTH TO: Choose the maximum line length iA Writer will display
- What are the PREVIW preferences?
a. APPEARANCE:
1. Center Headings: Toggle to center or left justify headings (H1, H2, etc.)
2. Indent Paragraphs: Indicate new paragraphs with indentation instead of vertical space
3. Invert Colors: Night/Day modes
b. BEHAVIOR: Scroll in sync with Editor- Uncheck to scroll the Editor and Preview independently
c. MARKDOWN:
1. Lazy Paragraphs: Only a single return is needed between paragraphs
2. Hide Metadata: MultMarkdown allows for Metadata to be placed at the beginning of a file. Toggle this to hide such metadata from being showing the Preview.
- How do you format your text?
iA Writer allows you to structure your text without the need for mouse, b only typing a few simple characters. It is familiar, and it is also subtly formatted on-screen with Wtriter’s Auto Markdown.
- What is BASIC MARKDOWN FORMATTING?
It includes formatting for emphasis, importance, headings, lists, quotes, links, code, and more.
- You can also see the formatting applied by:
switching to Preview mode.
- How do you apply formatting:
go to one of the following options;
a. the Format menu
b. the Format section of the toolbar
c. Typing Markdown characters directly
d. Keyboard shortcuts
