MOA use dose

A

ABX, poorly absorbed, stays in GIT
use: (+) breath test SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth)
550mg po tid x14d, can repeat up to 2x

A

mu agonist, gamma antag, kappa ag, inhibits bowel contraction

A

AE: sphincter of oddi dysfunction (spasm)
CI: hx pancreatitis, alcoholism or current
no gall bladder, pts who AEingest >/= 3 alcoholic beverages a day
