IDENTIFYING DERMATOLOGICAL LESIONS Flashcards
(20 cards)
These are flat lesion with different colors.
Macule
Give the type of hemorrhage with the given data:
- Associated with proliferation of fibroblast
- Mark remaining after healing of wound
Scar/Cicatrix
Elevated lesion considered as vesicle; less than 5 or more than 5 mm; should contain pus
Pustule
These are elevated lesions more than 5 mm.
Plaque
Redness of skin due to increased blood flow in capillaries; blanchable
Erythema
These are elevated lesions raised from surface, not more than 5 mm; hallmark of allergy
Papule
Elevated lesion more than 5 mm containing expressible material in the form of clear fluid
Cyst
Give the type of hemorrhage with the given data:
- Combination of petechia & Ecchymoses
- <1 or >1
- Strangulation
- Occurs in arterioles
Agonal
“Langib”; thin circular rim of keratin flakes
Colarette
Solid matter form upon drying of exudate (inflammatory fluid; e.g. pus); yellow
Crust
Skin appears darker, abnormally increased pigmentation
Hyperpigmentation
Give the type of hemorrhage with the given data:
- Few mm. in size
- 2-3 mm; > 1 mm
- Occurs in arterioles
Ecchymoses
Give the type of hemorrhage with the given data:
- Collection of spherical-shaped blood clots
- Occurs in major arteries
Hematocyst/Hematoma
Thickening of skin due to frequent or constant friction; hyperplasia of skin cells
Callus
Rupture of blood vessels; escape of blood from vessels; non-blanchable
Hemorrhage
Give the type of hemorrhage with the given data:
- < 1 mm.
- “Pinpoint”
- Occurs in capillary
Petechia
These are same with macule but wrinkled & has scaling; also flat
Patch
Give the type of hemorrhage with the given data:
- Diffused blood hemorrhage
- “Paint brush”
- Occurs in larger arterioles
Suffusion
Elevated lesions more than 5 mm., has substantial depth; no water should come out.
Nodule
Give the type of hemorrhage with the given data:
- Ecchymoses + Petechia
- Confluent/coalescing
- Non-blanchable
- Present in infections
- Disseminated intravascular clotting -> meningococcemia
Purpura
