what is conservatism about?

A

It views the guiding principles of socialism and liberalism as too abstract. it views the elimination of inequality as impossible. Q

why are minor parties ideologically consistent?

A

Minor parties focus on a few key issues and are more driven by their core policies. They often take more extreme positions on these topics. While parties like Sinn Féin, the Greens, and the Socialists are generally united on their main issues, differences are starting to appear — for example, Sinn Féin shows less unity on topics like spending and the environment

Q

How does the prstv system encourage localism?

A

reland’s PR-STV system encourages TDs to focus on local needs rather than strictly follow national party ideology. TDs often adjust their policy messages depending on their local area and can act differently in local campaigns compared to how they vote in parliament. Major parties don’t have consistent national views on every issue, which allows candidates sto take more extreme positions to stand out from others and better serve their local communities

17
Q

why do td’s focus on their local communities

A

Major parties don’t have consistent national views on every issue, which allows candidates sto take more extreme positions to stand out from others and better serve their local communities
