Probable cause

A

A rational and reasonable suspicion based on articulated focus that the patient, visitor, or other individual has in his/her possession or under his/her control any substance that could pose a threat to themselves or other, or other wise interfere in the delivery of services by Confluence Health.

A

Materials associated with drug usage, including but not limited to pills, syringes, needles, bent spoons with burn marks, bongs, tourniquets, roach clips, small plastic baggies.

What are the steps after a room search has been conducted if you find controband

A

1.) If contraband is found ask the patient what the substance is. 2.) Notify the physician. 3.) Fill out a chain of custody form. 4.) Photograph the evidence along with the chain of custody form. 5.) With a witness destroy the contraband in the appropriate area. 6.) Create a security Incident report and attach the photographic evidence to the report.
