Immunology Flashcards
(22 cards)
In the innate how do immune system cells detect pathogens?
PAMPS from pathogen being detaected via pattern recognition receptors (PRRs).
What is Toll like receptors?
A type of primary type of PRRs for detecting PAMPS.
What is released for innate immune response to a pathogen ?
IFN a/b
ROS
NO
What action does IFN gamma have on APC?
Upregualtes MHC II therefore making pathogen visible.
What are NK cells used for?
MHC I cytotoxicity for viral infection response
What cells identify and kill tumour cells?
CD8 cytotoxic T cells
What is the roll of T helper cells?
Produce signals and activation of CD8 T cell and B cells.
How does T ref cells mediate peripheral tolerance of CD8 cytotoxic t cells?
TGF-B or cell contact via CTLA-4
What interleukin activates CD8 cell from t helper cells?
IL-12
IFN-y
What interleukin activates B cell from t helper cells?
IL-4
What proteins identify T reg cells?
CD4
CD25
FOXP3
What APC have MHC 2?
Macrophages
Dendritic cells
What does MHC bind to?
T cell receptor (TCR)
What is the co-stimulator of TCR and MHC?
CD28 - CD80-86 interaction
What molecules are used by CD8 cytotoxic or NK cells?
Granzyme A/B
Perforin
What interleukin activates Th2?
IL-4
What cytokine stimulates T regulatory cells?
TGF-B
What happens to intracellular antigen for presentation on cell surface MHCI?
Immunoproteosome processors peptides before shutting to the endoplasmic reticulum y a transport protein: TAP.
What 3 potential routes are there for tumour cell killing?
- MHC dependent - CD8
- antibody dependent -NK and Mø
- antibody independent - NK
What are the 3 phases of the immunoediting model of cancer development?
- Elimination
- Equilibrium
- Escape
Name the immunosuppressive cells? (4)
T reg
Monocyte derived supressor cells
M2 macrophages
Tolerogenic dendritic cells
what receptor or NK cells attaches to MHC1?
KIR - killer inhibitory complex
