Started in 1899 and was between The Boers(Dutch)
and British
Colony
A country or territory governed internally by a foreign power
Protectorate
A country with its own government but controlled by an outside power
Direct Rule
A system of government in which a province is controlled by a central government.
Indirect Rule
a system of government of one nation by another in which the governed people retain certain administrative, legal, and other powers.
African Resistance
The resistance of African countries toward the European nations. Only 2 ended up resisting them, Ethiopia and Liberia
Menelik II
The leader of Ethiopia that led them resisting the Europeans (Italy)
Maji Maji Rebellion
A rebellion between 20 different ethnic groups against Germany. The 20 ethnic groups that special water, maji maji, would turn German bullets into water
Ottoman Empire
Surrounded by the Black Sea and could not keep up with the moderation of the world around it. Slowly declined by losing different countries
Suleyman I
The last Great Ottoman sultan, died in 1566
