1st Amendment
Freedom of press, speech, religion and right to petition the government
2nd amendment
Right to bear arms
4th amendment
protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government.
5th amendment
Guarantees people the right to a grand jury, forbids “double jeopardy,” and protects against self-incrimination.
6th amendment
The rights of criminal defendants, including the right to a public trial without unnecessary delay, the right to a lawyer, the right to an impartial jury, and the right to know who your accusers are and the nature of the charges and evidence against you.
10th amendment
Any powers that are not specifically given to the federal government, are reserved to the states, or to the people at large.
13th amendment
The 13th Amendment forever abolished slavery as an institution in all U.S. states and territories.
14th amendment
Prohibits the states from depriving “any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.
15th amendment
Granted African American men the right to vote
16th amendment
Granted Congress the authority to issue an income tax without having to determine it based on population.
17th amendment
Called for the direct election of senators by the voters instead of their election by state legislatures.
19th amendment
Gave women the right to vote
22th amendment
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.
25th amendment
In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.
26th amendment
The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote.
