A

• don’t expand on the client’s work.

• don’t rephrase the original work

• don’t rewrite sentences

• don’t correct factual errors

*typos on factual info can be addressed in comments if it is an obvious typo only

*(You can break apart or combine existing sentences. Also can eliminate text that isn’t helpful. Can correct grammar and punctuation and adjust terminology for academic tone but keep the original wording)

How to write a comment

A

Keep them short and to the point avoiding overloading with info or tutoring.

If it is a reoccurring grammar issue leave a brief comment.

How to use comments

A

• explain repeated grammar or punctuation errors

• when the meaning isn’t clear.
Either correct and ask them to check it or ask them to check and clarify.

• introducing abbreviations

• inconsistent terminology or changing to academic correction and ask them to check

• removing repetition and ask them to check if they wanted to say something else

• incomplete sentences need a comment to check and clarify

• uncited quotes should be asked to check source and add full citation

• obvious typos in quote should be asked to check source text
