The christian belief that God came to earth in the flesh in human form as Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God the saviour
Alpha and Omega
Alpha is the first letter of the greek alphapet and Omega is the last letter. This represents the belief that God is involved in everything from beginning to end
Chi - Rho
The first two letters of the greek word for christ. Represents the belief that through his death Jesus saved all humans
Crucifix
Reminds us of the pain and suffering that Jesus went through as he died and his burning love

Beatitudes
A list of eight attitudes which Jesus blesses (holy) in God’s eyes the first part of the sermon on the Mount.
Sacrament
A moment of grace when God’s love is poured into an individual.
Sermon on the mount
A sermon (talk) from Jesus which gives a set of rules and values to apply to life (Matthew 5-7)
Annuciation
The announcement to Mary that she will be the mother of Jesus - the son of God
Matthew = for jewish christians focused on Joseph’s role in Jesus’ birth
Luke = non-jewish christians for whom the value of women was higher

Reminds us of Jesus’love takes in all people

Can be interpreted in different ways e.g. the Mosiac

Can be misleading
It is not possible to portray God an infinite, transcendent being accurately because we are using finite (limited) human means.
People may think that the statue itself is being worshipped. Which is going against the second commandment of ‘do not worship idols’
