Aspiration
Inhalation of food or drink into lungs which has potential to cause pneumonia or death.
Calories
The fuel or energy value of food.
Carbohydrates
The main source of energy for all body functions.
Dehydration
Excessive loss of fluid from the body.
Fats
Help the body store energy and use certain vitamins.
Fluid Overload
Condition in which the the body is unable to handle the amount of fluids consumed.
Fluid Restriction
A restriction amount of fluids a resident may have per day; usually divided between nursing and dietary (i.e., fluids with meals).
Gastrostomy Tube (G-Tube)
Tube placed through the abdomen directly into the stomach and used to provide nourishment.
