Q

Extraction of Aluminium

A
  1. Purify the aluminum ore by crushing it with sodium hydroxide
  2. Aluminium needs to be molten however aluminium oxide melts at 2070 degrees, and is dissolved in cryolite
  3. Aluminium ions form on the negative electrode and Oxygen ions form on the positive electrode
  4. Aluminium ions gain electrons and are reduced to aluminium metal.
