features of staph aureus diarrhoea

A flu-like prodrome is usually followed by crampy abdominal pains, fever and diarrhoea which may be bloody
May mimic appendicitis
Complications include Guillain-Barre syndrome

vomiting within 6 hours, stereotypically due to rice
diarrhoeal illness occurring after 6 hours

Gradual onset bloody diarrhoea, abdominal pain and tenderness which may last for several weeks

what is o Herpes zoster ophthalmicus
shingles affecting ophthalmic division of CN V
how does herpes zoster ophthalmicus present
- Vesicular rash around eye, may not involve eye itself
- Hutchinson’s sign: rash on tip or side of nose indicates nasociliary involvement and is a strong RF for ocular involvement
tx for o Herpes zoster ophthalmicus
antiviral
+/- topical corticosteroids for eye inflammation
