what are the basic principles of injections

A
  • Maintain dignity of patient at all times
  • Wash hands and wear gloves
  • Explain and gain consent
  • Expose site – check skin integrity, location underlying
    structures, medication volume
  • Change the needle after solution has been drawn up
  • Never re-sheath a needle
  • Dispose into sharps bin – follow Trust needlestick policy
  • Wash hands
  • Documentation
