- Wash hands and wear gloves
- Explain and gain consent
- Expose site – check skin integrity, location underlying
structures, medication volume - Change the needle after solution has been drawn up
- Never re-sheath a needle
- Dispose into sharps bin – follow Trust needlestick policy
