What does the quote “Girls of that class” illustrate?
This shows that Mrs. Birling is more loyal to her class than her gender. It also shows us that Mrs. Birling looks down on people like Daisy as she see’s them as somehow immoral and part of the undeserving poor.
What does the quote “Impertinence make use of that name” illustrate?
She is trying to justify her decision of not helping Daisy. This also shows us that she likes to distance herself from being compared to the working class.
What does the quote “You might be working to help him instead of us” illustrate?
She criticizes Eric and Sheila for wanting to change. She uses the pronoun “us” to show that she see’s the working class like the Inspector as outsiders.
