Q

VSI and IVSI errors

A

Instrument error - large mechanical movements needed from small sensed movements which polarises with altitude.

static blockage: pressue inside and out will equalise and read nothing.

Altimeter errors

A

Pressure errors: Outside Envelope, Position error, manouevre error.

Barometric error - wrong pressure setting.

Lag error - Slow response of aneroid and linkage

Hysteresis - lack of elastic properties of the aneroid.

Q

What is hysteresis error?

A

inelasticity in the aneroid capsule resulting in innacurate reading. Settles after time at an altitude.

Q

What is the affect of activating the alternative static source?

A

The lower cabin pressure caused by aerodynamic suction causes the ASI and the ALT to partially overread.

VSI will indicated momentary climb.
