Epidermis

Contains cells that die and move to the surface

Stratum Spinosum:
Contains a continuous layer of cells.
Stratum Basale:
The lower layer of skin composed of the papillary layer and reticular layer.
Dermis
composed of collagen fibers.
Papillary Layer:
composed of dense connective tissue and collagen fibers.
Reticular Layer
A layer mainly used to store fat.

major sweat gland in the human body.
Eccrine Sweat Gland
One of the main connective tissue.
Adipose Tissue
Tubes carrying blood.
Vein

Brings information from the body’s periphery towards the brain.

A nerve that passes impulses to the central nervous system.
Sensory nerve fibers
A sensory nerve ending in the dermis.
Meissner’s Corpuscle
Sends nervous impulses to the brain when the hair moves.

Acts as a receptor for pressure and vibration.
Pacinian Corpuscle
Part of the hair that is embedded in the hair follicle.

Cells and connective tissue that surrounds the root of the hair.

Small muscles attached to hair follicles

A small gland that creates an oily matter into the hair follicle.
