advancement in Science and Technology changed
people’s perceptions and beliefs.
Intellectual Revolution
Ptolemaic (Geocentric) Model:
* Claudius Ptolemy proposed that Earth was the center of the
universe (Geocentrism).
* The sun, moon, and planets moved in circular orbits around the
Earth.
* This model was widely accepted and aligned with religious beliefs.
Copernican (Heliocentric) Model:
* Nicolaus Copernicus challenged geocentrism, proposing that the
sun was the center of the Solar System (Heliocentrism).
* His idea was rejected initially, as it contradicted religious
teachings.
* He was persecuted as a heretic for his revolutionary views.
Copernican Revolution

Heliocentrism
Charles Darwin, an English naturalist,
published On the Origin of Species in 1859.
* Darwin’s theory of evolution is the idea that
species change over time through a process
called natural selection, where the traits
that help an organism survive and
reproduce are passed down to future
generations.
Darwinian Revolution
He introduced the id, ego, and superego as
conflicting elements influencing
personality.
