(20 cards)
What is ecology?
Ecology is the study of the relationship between living organisms and their environment.
What is an ecologist?
An ecologist is someone who researches the relationships between living organisms and their environment.
What are the basic survival needs for humans?

What are adaptations?
An adaptation is a characteristic that helps an organism survive and reproduce in its environment.
What is learned adaptation?
A learned adaptation is something you were taught in order to survive.
What is an inherited adaptation?
An adaptation you were born with. Ex: Duck beak
What is a ecosystem?
The interactions between living and non-living things in a particular environment.
What are all the types of ecosystems?
Terrestrial and Aquatic
What is a type of terrestrial ecosystem?
Forests, Deserts, Grasslands, & Mountains.
What is a type of Aquatic ecosystem?
Marine & Freshwater! 🐟🎣🐡
What does the term BIOTIC mean?
Living.
What does ABIOTIC mean?
Non-living.
What is symbiosis?
When two species live closely together in a relationship that lasts over time.
What are the three types of symbiosis?
Mutualism, Parasitism, Commensalism
A relationship between two organisms when they both benefit.
What is Mutualism? Ex: Bees and Flowers 🌹
Ex: Bird nests in trees What is commensalism?
Occurs when there is a relation between two organisms in which one partner benefits and the other neither benefits or is harmed.
What is parasitism?
There is a relationship between two organisms where one benefits and the other is harmed. Ex: Dogs and Fleas+ Humans and mosquitoes.

What is an ecological footprint?
It is how much you impact the earth.
