(9 cards)
What are the two layers of the dermis ?
Papillary layer
Ricticular layer - biggest layer
What are the three types of lines on the skin ?
Friction ridges
Cleavage lines
Flexure lines
What are the two types of modified sweat glands
Cerminous . Eg ear wax
Mammory glands eg secrete milk.
What are the three layers of skin
Epidermis - outer most layer
Stratified squamous epithium
Dermis - 80% of the skins thickness
Aereolar and dense irregular connective tissue
Hypodermis - not part of the skin
Subcutaneous tissue
Stores fat
What are the four types of epidermal cells?
Keratinocytes
Melanocytes
Dendritic Cells
Tactile (Merkel) Cells
What are two layers of Dermis?
Papillary Layer:
- Areolar Connective Tissue
- Dermal Papillae indent epidermis
- Contain blood vessels, nerve receptor
Reticular Layer:
- Dense irregular connective tissue
- Thick bundles interlacing collagen
fibres
