universal declaration of human rights (udhr)

A

adopted in 1918 by the UN general assembly. it represents basic human rights and protects that every human being has and has been endorsed by all countries. it is a framework that covers areas such as civil, political, cultural, economic and solidarity rights.

international covenant on civil and political rights (iccpr)

A

the purpose of this covenant is to protect civil and political rights and is a key human right treaty. rights in this covenant include: right of an individual to life, freedom of assembly, electoral rights, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, a fair trial and due process.

A

sets out basic economic, social and cultural rights including the right to: work (wages, working conditions), social security, standard of living (adequate food, clothing, housing), health (semi-free healthcare system), education (free education)
