A

In 2022, there was a net immigration of 745,000 (people entering the UK - people leaving the UK)

3. Placing a ban on care workers bringing family dependants to the UK
4. The use of a points-based system where 70 points is needed to work in the UK (points can be awarded for speaking English - 10 points, filling shortages - 20 points etc.)

Q

What are elite migrants?

A

Elite migrants are those who are welcomed into a country due to the potential of huge economic investment they offer. Examples include:
- Russian Oligarchs
- Professional Athletes
- Highly skilled workers
For example, many Russian Oligarchs have been purchasing real estate in London. This in particular benefits: real estate agents, lawyers, accountants, architects, interior, designers.
It is believed that this wealth should “trickle down” to London’s ordinary people. However it may also be seen as dangerous to give such people - with connection to Putin - such influence in London.
