Internship Flashcards
(19 cards)
Tell me about yourself and your interest in mechanical engineering, why did you choose?
It suited my skillset in Mathematics and Physics. Mech Eng offered a challenging environment with real world applications rather than a pure maths or physics degree. I appreciate solving multi-faceted problems
Why are you interested in this research internship
You mentioned you have an interest in aerospace projects, can you describe any?
What have you learnt from the relevant projects that you have completed so far: climate pitch, dragster race and (not included: bridge testing)
Describe your experience of STEM Smart / MOOC to me?
What did your experience working at Lisboa teach you?
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
Describe a time you worked on a team project
- Current course has team projects at its core: varying from video production to working on a current CAD project
- Also done team projects simply in employment - lisboa
How do you handle setbacks in research or technical projects
What difficulties do you expect to face with this research project
If given an unfamiliar problem, how would you go about finding a solution
Can you describe a time when you had to learn a new skill or tool quickly for a project
- Lisboa
- Simply maths / a level - pace of course. Maybe not
If tasked with optimizing an aircraft component, what steps would you take?
Describe a time when you had to work independently on a technical challenge
How do you handle working under tight deadlines in research projects
Give an example of how you effectively communicate complex ideas to a non-technical audience
HISTORY A LEVEL: NEA involved research and breaking it down into understandable chunks
What do you do when you encounter conflicting data in an experiment
How do you prioritize tasks when working on multiple projects
Why should we select you for this research project?
