Could you tell me about yourself and describe your background in brief?
Of course. I graduated high school earlier this year as well as a 2 year automotive program at Cascadia Technical Academy. Before graduation and all through high school, I had been gaining experience where I could (as a farm hand, assistant mechanic, lumber work). In the last year, I had worked as a shop assistant for a towing company and I interned at Toyota as an assistant service technician.
Why are you pursuing a job in construction when you have training for the Automotive field?
Well, I had spent a few years working on cars, studying car systems, and interacting within the automotive field and I realized that, while I like being able to work on vehicles as a personal skill, I don’t want to pursue it professionally. I’m not really a car guy, as I’ve always been more interested in the construction trades. Now, I’m looking for a way to develop skills in that field
How did you hear about this position?
I had told many of my friends that I was looking for a job in construction, and an employee of Tapani recommended that I look online. I’ve been hoping to find a job with an experienced general contracting company and Tapani immediately stood out.
What type of work environment do you prefer?
In a previous job, I had experienced a work environment where quality and professional behavior were not valued, and that has shown me what kind of company I do want to work for. Professionalism, quality work, and expertise are what I look for most. Aside from that, a job environment where I can gain skills is very important to me.
How do you deal with pressure or stressful situations?
It depends on how well I am trained for that situation. In a stressful situation, my tendency is to look for a way to resolve it. I have always looked to gain skills so that I can be prepared in a well rounded way.
What are your salary expectations?
I am a hard worker, I learn fairly quickly, and I value quality work, which overall, I think is well worth $20 an hour.
Are you applying for other jobs?
Apart from a couple other positions in Tapani online, I am not actively pursuing any other job positions.
