A format that is specific to the program in which it is created. Native file formats preserve layers, options, and transparency. Always keep a copy of the file in its native format so you cans edit it later on
Lossy
A compression that results in lost data and quantity
Lossless
No loss of data or quantity

A programming language used for printing documents on laser printers

Native to photoshop, preserves layers and transparency, uses raster graphics. Raster and lossless

Foreground color
Used by brushes, the color on top of the stack
Background color
Will appear when using an eraser, or deleting pixels
Color gamut
The number of colors available within a color model
Hexadecimal number
Specific number for each color
Hue
The name of the color- a specific dance of wavelengths within the light spectrum
Saturation
The amount of hue within a color
Upsampling
Increasing an images size- taking a certain amount of pixels and multiplying them- usually you can go up about 10% without quality loss
Downsampling
Reducing the pixels
