1
Q

WHat are two types of data in GIS?

Q

What is an Attribute Table?

A

a spreadsheet-style form where the rows consist of individual objects and the columns are the attributes associated with the objects

Q

What is Nominal Data type of data?

A
  • unique identifier of some kind
  • if numerical, the differences between numbers are not significant (e.g., a phone number, bank account number, SIN #, etc.)

Q

What is Ordinal Data type of data?

A
  • refers to some sort of rankng

given eg. susceptibility to slope failure

Q

What is Interval type of data?

A

A type of numerical data in which the difference between numbers is significant, but there is no fixed non-arbitrary zero point associated with the data (e.g., temperature {in °C}, which can range from negative value to zero to positive value)

Q

What is Ratio type of Data?

A

A type of numerical data in which the difference between numbers is significant, but there exists a fixed non-arbitrary zero point associated with the data (e.g., temperature {in °K}, where –273°C = 0 K)

Q

What is the difference between Interval and Ratio Data?

A

With Interval there is “no fixed non-arbitrary zero point associated with the data” but there is with Ratio data

Q

What are two types of joins?

A
  • One-to-one join –When a single record is linked to another single record during a join
  • Many-to-one join –When many records in an attribute table can have one other record from another table matched to them during a join

Q

What is Relate?

A

Relate –A type of join that establishes a connection between tables but does not append fields from one table to another table

Q

What is Selection?

A

Selection –When certain records or features are chosen and set aside from the remainder of the records or features

Q

What is the Boolean operator (query)?

A

One of the connectors used in building a compound query (i.e., “AND”, “OR” or “NOT”)

17
Q

What is a Hyperlink?

A

A function that allows the user to connect non-spatial media (e.g., documents, files, photos, URLs, or scripts to a geospatial feature and interactively trigger them

18
Q

What is a Geotag?

A

(Related to Hyerlink) A provess where non-spatial media is linked to geospatial features
