Flashcards in Intro to Neuro DOCX Deck (15):
What is gray matter?
Consists of nerve cell bodies & neuroglia.
Has cerebral cortex and Nuclei.
Cerebral Cortex is
Brain bark, is multiple layers of nerve cell bodies & neuroglia that form a sheeh
A nucleus is a collection of nerve cell bodies & neuroglia w/in the CNS
What is white matte?
Consist mainly of myelinated nerve cell axons & neuroglia.
Also has tracts, peduncles & commisures.
Tracts in the NS are
Bundle of axons
Fasiculus - bundle
Lemniscus - ribbon
Brachium - arm
Foot like process
skin receives sensory & autonomic inn.
refers to a dendrite or axon of a neuron
Pathways of NS
2 or 3 neurons relay particular information of modalities or motor fx
relays sensory input
Brain to muscle motor info
What is a decussation?
Oblique crossing of axons from one side to other side of CNS.
Commisural fibers are
Axons that arise from one side of brain or spinal cord and cross to other side.
