Vitamins
What are they?
They are organic compounds required by an organism as a vital nutrient in limited amounts.
Minerals
what are they?
Naturally occurring, inorganic substances.
Hint: Magnesium
Inflammation
what is it?
The reaction of a tissue to injury or infection, characterized by heat, redness, swelling, and pain.
Zoochemicals
what are they?
They are components found in animal food sources.
Phytochemicals
what are they?

Microbiome
What is it and where is it found?
It is, basically, the Gut flora that inhabits in the GI Tract.
Food
Name two important characteristics about it…
1) In part, it is information. It sends instructions that kick off chemical chain letter. Each molecule contribute to a beautiful cascade of events, sending all kinds of signals throughout our body.
2) it tells a story. It helps us communicate about who we are, what we think about, and what’s important to us.
Chronic diseases
what are they? give some examples…
They are long-acting diseases that do not quickly resolve, e.g. cardiovascular disease, cancers, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes.
Good Nutrition (Mention the important characteristics about Good Nutrition...)
Hint: 7 Characteristics
Some characteristics are:
- it controls energy balance.
- It gives us nutrients.
- It help us look, feel, and perform our best.
- it is outcome-based.
- it is sustainable for both us and the planet.
- it is about removing limiting factors.
- it looks for strengths and wins.
What’s the Best diet? Explain Why?
There isn’t one. Here’s why:
- Clients are diverse.
- The best coaches don’t have a single nutrition philosophy.
- The best coaches use data and evidence to make decisions.

what does it include? Hint: 6 things
It Includes:
- Micronutrients
- Phytochemicals
- Zoochemicals
- Fiber
- Water
- Other Organic Molecules
Fats
Also known as?
Also known as Triglycerides, derived from glycerol and three fatty acids.
Nutrient Density (Hint: it could be high or low, relative to the amount of...)
Nutrients per amount of food.
Epigenetics
What is it?
It is the study of changes in organisms caused by modification of gene expression rather than alteration of the genetic code.
Amino acids
What are they?
They are the building blocks of protein.
Gene Variants
What are they?
Diversity in gene sequence within a population, or among populations, that are most commonly due to single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) or copy number variants (CNVs)
Limiting Factors for Good Nutrition.
Hint: Name the 5 limiting factors
- Genetics and Epigenetics.
- Exercise.
- Physiology.
- Mindset.
- Environment.
All these can be __________ for __________.
Paleo
Hint: it is a diet
A diet built upon foods presumed to have been eaten by early humans.
Intermittent fasting (Hint: it is diet)
A diet that cycles between periods of eating and not eating.
